can't connect to some http site, and it's giving me an error
saying "The server doesn't have a DNS entry....."
Your address is mispelled or incorrect.

The file that you're opening is not present in

3. My Netscape is keep transferring
data but doesn't show anything for quite some time
That's one of Netscape bugs. Try updating your
version of Netscape to the newest one. |

Sometimes I get over 2 Kbytes/sec but sometimes I only get
200 bytes/sec, Why?
The speed of your connection depends whether
the server where you're connected is full or not. If the server
is full, means there're lots of people accessing the server
together at the same time, then the speed will become slower.

What is proxy server?
Basically proxy server is a host that has function
as bridge between inner network and outside network/Internet.
It can be set as security firewall to restrict access from inside
or outside network, base on IP address filtering or base on service/application
such as http, ftp, smtp, etc. Proxy server also can be use as "cache
server" that makes data traffic more eficien.
How can that be? Proxy server can reduce data traffic by caching data that
has been requested from inside network and then if there're other request for
the same data, proxy will give the cached data instead of transfer it from
original source/server. So it will prevent the same data traveling through
the same line again and again. That's why Melsa use this kind of proxy server. |

How to configure my browser to use proxy?
This setting is optional, there's no obligation
for you to use proxy. Melsa proxy server is only for http, you
don't need to reconfigure the dialer or other aplications except
WWW browser such as Netscape or Internet Explorer. |
